Nine open books are arranged side by side, to represent the complete course of the Uruguay River, which together with the Paraná and Paraguay rivers form the River Plate basin. The flow of the river is embodied in bright red print reminiscent of an image of the bloodstream. Like the human body, composed of water and blood, the river becomes a vital element that runs across the three countries through which it flows. The cover of these nine books features the Rose of the Winds, and their pages offer the basic elements to create an individualized cartography, since each book can be manipulated by the public who thus shares authorship.
